Police in Plano are investigating the case of a 10-month-old baby who died Sunday night after being brought by a parent to a hospital.

The call came at about 11:30 p.m. from Medical City Plano. Police were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined a parent had brought their child to the hospital for medical treatment; despite lifesaving efforts from medical staff, the child had died,” Officer Jennifer Chapman, a spokesperson for the Plano Police Department, said in a statement.

Chapman said it was too early for them to know the cause of death, but local law enforcement is referring the case to the crimes against persons unit, which is now leading the investigation, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The cause of death will be determined by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said they do not believe there is currently any danger to the public connected with this case.

This potentially heinous crime in Plano comes amid a crime wave in the metroplex centered on Dallas, where city leaders have declined to prioritize law enforcement. Previous reporting by The Dallas Express shows a 1.5% increase in crime in 2022 compared to the previous year.
