The jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing is up to an estimated $940 million after no winners were announced on Tuesday.

In Tuesday’s drawing, there were more than 2.9 million winning tickets of various amounts, including three $4 million tickets sold in South Dakota, Arizona, and Mississippi.

The numbers drawn on Tuesday were 25, 29, 33, 41, and 44, with a MegaBall of 18.

There have been 23 straight Mega Millions drawings without a grand prize winner. Friday’s jackpot is estimated to be the fourth-largest prize in the game’s last 20 years, according to Mega Millions.

If there is a winner on Friday and that person opts to take the lump sum — which over 90% of winners do — they will walk away with approximately $483.5 million in cash. There were six Mega Millions jackpot winners in 2022.

If you win, a lawyer who has represented several winners said it might be wise to take the 30-year annuity payments.

“Few lottery winners have the infrastructure in place to manage a lottery windfall,” Andrew Stoltmann told CNBC.

“To make a mistake with the first year’s winnings is not catastrophic if the winner is going to receive another 29 years’ worth of payments,” Stoltmann added.

Before you get excited about the prospect of winning a life-changing sum, know that you have a greater chance of becoming the next president of the United States than winning the Mega Millions jackpot. You even have a better chance of becoming a billionaire than winning the lottery.

The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 302,575,350 million.

Friday’s Mega Millions numbers will be drawn at 10 p.m. CT.
