The WNBA All-Star Game is set to take place on July 20 in Phoenix, as Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale has been named as an All-Star for the fourth consecutive year.

All-Star Weekend for the WNBA will officially begin on Friday, July 19 as players compete in the Skills Challenge at 8 p.m. and a Three-Point Shooting Contest after the completion of the first competition, per The WNBA.

Following the first day of events, the WNBA All-Star Game is currently scheduled to begin on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The voting process for the WNBA All-Star game included a collection of votes from fans, current WNBA players, and a national panel of sports writers and broadcasters, according to The Dallas Wings.

This year’s WNBA All-Star Game will consist of Team WNBA competing against the Team USA Women’s National Team, which is traveling to compete in the Paris Olympics at the end of July.

Although the Wings have struggled to find consistency on the season, currently ranking last in the WNBA with an overall record of 4-15, Ogunbowale has been incredible during the entirety of the season.

This season began as Ogunbowale broke the record for the most consecutive 20-point games to begin a season with 10 straight games, according to StatMamba.

Ogunbowale currently ranks second in the entire WNBA in scoring for the season thus far with an average of 23.7 points per game through her first 18 appearances, behind just Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson who has put up an average of 27 points per game.

Scoring is not the only major statistical category that Ogunbowale is near the top of the league in, as the sixth-year guard also leads the WNBA in steals per game at 2.8 and minutes per game at 38.4.

Although Ogunbowale does not rank near the complete top of the list for most assists per game in the WNBA, she is 10th in the league with an average of 4.9 per game.

Ogunbowale was named the 2021 WNBA All-Star Game MVP after scoring 26 points to help lead Team WNBA to a 93-85 victory over the USA Basketball Women’s National Team, per The WNBA.
