Margaret Sue Garrett, 92, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2021. Born in Annona in Red River County, Texas, on May 31, 1928, to Hiram Chessier Simmons and Sudie Florence (Hunt) Simmons, she was the only daughter in a family of seven sons and spent her early years helping her mother with the household chores on the family farm. She was a loving wife and mother to their three children: Larry Neal, Jerry Don, and Sue Ann. Her first job outside the home was working for Business Men’s Assurance Company in Dallas, and later she enjoyed careers with John Deere and Braniff Airlines until her retirement in 1991.

After moving to numerous Texas towns for Ben’s work, the family settled in Farmers Branch in the 1950s. There Margaret joined Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch as a charter member in January 1957 and remained a life member. She treasured her involvement with the Spirit ChristCare women’s group, who dedicated their lives in the service for God. She also served as the Publicity and Yearbook Chairperson for the United Methodist Women for many years. In addition to her church activities, she enjoyed a life filled with family fishing and hunting trips with Ben and her brothers.
