As reported by Fox 4 News, an accidental shooting by a toddler occurred at the Walmart in Granbury around 11:30 am on Wednesday, January 5.

Granbury police say a 1-year-old toddler was waiting in a vehicle with a 3-month old when they found a handgun between the seat and center console while their parents were outside the car.

The child fired a shot that hit the 3-month-old in the leg and went through the mother’s arm into her chest.

The two were transported to a Fort Worth hospital. The mother’s condition remains unknown, and the 3-month-old is said not to have any life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear whether the incident happened in the parking lot or close to the auto center.

The investigation is ongoing.
