Obituary for Todd Reuel Casey

Todd Reuel Casey was born on May 28, 1962 in Lubbock, TX to Patsy Smith Casey Davis and Reuel Glenn Casey. He passed at the age of 58 on May 15, 2021 at his home in Dallas, TX. Todd grew up in Baytown, TX, graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS in Political Science in 1985 and was a devoted Red Raider sports fan for his entire life. A recurrent Todd quote… “If the sun’s up, then its guns up!”. Tech is where he met and fell in love with his wife of 36 years, Anna Villasana Casey. Todd and Anna settled in Dallas where Todd had a career in the Transportation industry and Anna in Dallas City and County politics. Todd loved to cook and was an award-winning chili maker. Cook-off competitions and a love of camping and the outdoors took them on frequent Texas travels, especially to Terlingua and Big Bend National Park. Todd loved that part of Texas, which they visited as often as possible and eventually bought a beautiful piece of property there which Todd referred to as his “Happy Place”. Todd loved motorcycles and was an avid gun collector, but most of all loved his dogs, his friends and his family. Todd’s kindness, charm, wit, intelligence, and easy-going personality all added to his unique and charismatic character. Todd was intensely loyal and had many close friends who will miss him dearly.

Todd was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Reuel and Catherine Casey of Amarillo, TX.; his maternal grandparents, Walter E. “Happy” and Joyce Smith of Tahoka, TX.; his father-in-law, Rudy Villasana of Dallas, TX. He is survived by his wife, Anna V. Casey; sister-in-law, Elva V. Lewis; mother-in-law, Jeurida Villasana; mother, Patsy A. Davis; father, Reuel G. Casey; sister, Cathy Casey; step-mother, Frances Casey; and step-brothers, Joey Biggerstaff, Gary Biggerstaff and Greg Biggerstaff.

Services to celebrate Todd’s life will include a Visitation and Memorial Service at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park (see detail below in Upcoming Events). If you cannot attend in person, the Memorial Service can also be watched via live web streaming. An event for the live stream will appear in Upcoming Events on this web page on May 26th and the link will be active about 10 minutes prior to the start of the 2pm service. For any live streaming difficulties or if you are unable to join at 2pm, a link to a recording of the web stream can be accessed about 10 minutes after the Service has concluded and will be available for 90 days on this Obituary page.

Interment of ashes will occur later this year at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas, and at Todd’s “Happy Place” in Big Bend.

As there will be no graveside service, a plant gift would be preferred over flowers. Or, in lieu of a floral gift, a memorial, tax deductible donation can be made to the Big Bend Conservancy, by calling 432-207-2202 or donating on-line at https://bigbendconservancy.org/donate On-line donors should also email: [email protected] to let them know the gift is in honor of Todd R. Casey, and to ask for a notification of the donation be sent to: Cathy Casey, 205 W. Doyle St, Granbury, TX 76048, so that the family may thank you for your kindness.
