Arlington Police arrested 20-year-old Jacob LaTravis Yi on Sunday in connection to a shooting at a shopping center in Arlington on February 5.

When officers arrived at the 4000 block of South Cooper Street in Arlington right before 3 p.m., they discovered two men lying on the ground.

One, a 29-year-old man, was transported to a hospital. He is believed to be in stable condition.

The second one, a 31-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

The identities of the two victims have not been revealed.

Police interviewed witnesses and two people of interest. Yi was arrested, and the other individual was released.

According to authorities, they suspect a disagreement transpired between Yi and the deceased victim.

Investigators said the accused shooter and the deceased rode to the location together, and there was an arrangement between the two. Allegedly, Yi was to purchase iPhones from the nearby AT&T store using the victim’s credit card.

In this particular instance, Yi attempted to leave in an Uber from the location with the iPhones and victim’s credit card, and reportedly fired shots when the victim tried to confront him.

The suspect was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a felon.  An active arrest warrant for a weapons charge for the suspect had already been issued.

Yi is currently being held at the Tarrant County jail.
