The Dallas-based company announces that the average cost of calls per minute has hit a low of $0.13 due to its ongoing commitment to making communications more affordable and accessible for incarcerated individuals.

Securus Technologies, a subsidiary of Aventiv Technologies, is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and currently serves the needs of more than 3,450 public safety, law enforcement, correctional agencies, and more than 1,100,000 incarcerated individuals across North America.

The parent company Aventiv Technologies provides emergency response, incident management, public information, investigation, biometric analysis, communication, information management, inmate self-service, surveillance products, and related services to make our prisons secure and our nation safer.

The leadership focuses on achieving long-term, self-sustainable change, achieving cost-saving efficiencies for consumers, implementing more balanced commercial practices, collaboratively working with groups, entities, and individuals who share the same goal of modernizing the corrections sector.

Securus Technologies renegotiated hundreds of contracts in partnership with correctional agencies to offer taxpayer-funded and zero commission options in all contracts and reduce rates to help drive costs even lower.

The average call rate of $0.13 reflected the year-to-date averages through November and was achieved in advance of recent rule changes by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The company anticipates these changes to carry an additional impact on the average call price.

President and CEO of Aventiv Technologies, parent company to Securus Technologies, Dave Abel, explained: “I am proud to be delivering one of our biggest affordability commitments during a challenging year. Staying connected to one’s community is essential to successful reentry. Friends and family of incarcerated Americans deserve to be able to communicate with their loved ones without breaking the bank, and we will continue finding ways to make our services even more affordable while ensuring the highest quality of products and safeguarding public safety.”
