A roof of a building in an apartment complex in East Dallas collapsed on Sunday afternoon, and over 20 teams of Dallas first responders arrived on the scene to safely get all tenants and pets out of harm’s way.

Dallas Fire-Rescue Active Interactive Map showed 22 different responder teams on the scene Sunday afternoon, including Dallas Fire and Rescue Engine 17, DFW Scanner reported. A video on social media showed the engine en route. The emergency occurred at the Marquita Court Apartments at 5750 Marquita Avenue in the neighborhood of Dallas known as Lower Greenville.

According to Fox News, the Red Cross and DART are assisting those who have been relocated.

First responders closed nearby surrounding streets, and Dallas’ Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) teams were on the scene, according to DFW Scanner. The Dallas Express reached out to Engine Houses 30 and 17, two of the 20-plus responding groups.

The Dallas Express contacted Jason Evans, information officer for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, on Sunday evening. Evans said he would report with more information on the incident as soon as possible.

The reason for the roof collapse is under investigation, Fox News reports.

Probably not maintenance properly. Those Spanish roof tiles are very heavy more than your regular roof shingle.
