According to a recent poll, Americans are split when it comes to President Donald Trump or President Joe Biden as possible candidates for the 2024 presidential election.

Echelon Insights conducted the poll, which surveyed 1,020 registered voters from December 9 to 13.

Results indicated that fifty-five percent of respondents don’t want Trump to run for president next term, while fifty-four percent don’t want Biden to run.

According to the survey, when asked if Trump should run again, thirty-nine percent answered yes, while thirty-four percent said they’d want to see Biden run again in 2024.

When questioned about Biden’s plans to run for re-election in November, White House press secretary Jen Psaki answered, “That’s his intention.”

While Trump has yet to make a formal announcement about his presidential campaign, he has hinted that he will. Trump was asked if he was considering running again during a recent interview with former European Parliament member Nigel Farage.

“If you love the country, you have no choice,” the former president answered.

A poll conducted by USA Today and Suffolk University earlier this month found similar results, with most respondents indicating they don’t want Biden or Trump to run for president in the next election.

Sixty-four percent of respondents said they opposed Biden running again, while twenty-nine percent said they supported him. Fifty-eight percent stated they don’t want Trump to run again, while thirty-six percent said they do.

In addition, if Biden and Trump do not run again in 2024, the Echelon Insights poll questioned respondents who they would vote for in primary elections.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis led all contenders in a Republican primary poll, with thirty percent of respondents stating they would vote for him. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in second with twelve percent of the vote, followed by Donald Trump Jr. and Texas Senator Ted Cruz tied at eight percent.

In a Democratic primary, thirty-three percent of respondents said they would vote for Vice President Kamala Harris if Biden did not run. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont received fourteen percent of the vote, while Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts received eight percent.

If Biden and Trump decide to compete for president again in 2024, the poll indicated that forty-seven percent would support Trump, and forty-four percent would prefer Biden.
