A Dodge Charger hit a pedestrian on the interstate in the early hours of Thursday, killing him.
The incident happened on eastbound I-30 at Jim Miller Road. CBS 11 News reports that eastbound I-30 at St. Francis was shut down, and traffic was diverted to Jim Miller Road as investigators checked out the scene.
Per CBS 11 News, the highway was shut down for almost four hours until it was re-opened to vehicles at 6:55 a.m.
According to a news report by CBS 11 News, the car stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Officers think that the man might have also been hit by another car before being hit by the Dodge Charger, the driver of which stopped at the location to check out the damage. Police said he also cooperated with the investigation.
According to police, the Dodge Charger had its left wheel knocked off and its left front area damaged. Another vehicle then hit the tire.
Authorities say they might not be charging anyone for the incident. However, investigators are still looking to see if another vehicle struck the pedestrian before the Dodge Charger did.
Detectives believe the pedestrian had crossed the westbound lanes of I-30 before he was stuck. They said he might have been trying to cross the eastbound lanes when he got hit.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified. After the medical examiner identifies him, his next of kin will be notified.
No further detail regarding the incident has been released. Police say their investigation is still ongoing.
