AcademicInfluence.com, headquartered in Dallas, is a technology-focused academic ranking site for students, scholars, and the curious from high school to college and beyond.

The company announced on January 27 the opening of its new one-stop-shop for those attempting to determine how best to study in their field, called Academic Disciplines.

Academic Disciplines provides quick and easy access to information about twenty-three major educational disciplines. Amongst the fields of study covered are Anthropology, Business, Computer Science, Economics, History, Medical, Sociology, and more.

The pages offer lists of the best colleges and universities and the best online degree programs for each of these fields of study. The pages also feature information such as the essential books and leading scholars in each discipline, as well as many other topics that are difficult to find elsewhere.

The Academic Disciplines platform and tool now allows students to search for specific information about a field of study they might want to pursue and provides helpful resources that enable a better college preparation, selection, and admissions process.

The platform is based on an innovative and patented machine learning technology, the InfluenceRanking™ Engine, which searches data repositories on the web to map and measure the academic influence of a school or a person.

AcademicInfluence.com believes academic rankings are important, and anyone concerned with education should know about them. Unfortunately, the company believes not all rankings are insightful or accurate, and many are actually misleading and biased. Their site aims to improve academic rankings in the hopes that a better ranking system will lead to a world of better educational choices and consequently better educational outcomes.

Academic Director of AcademicInfluence.com and Wake Forest University Professor of Physics, Dr. Jed Macosko, shared: “These one-stop pages give students the who, what, where, when, why, and how behind these academic subjects—it’s a total package look at the subjects that interest students most. Students can access our unmatched rankings of schools in that field, degree info, names and bios of top scholars in that field, even controversies—the best of that subject area, all in one convenient place.”
