Metroplex Fourth of July Events: Part Three

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the Fourth of July. This year is no exception, as the metroplex has many celebrations and events to commemorate the United States of America’s independence. The Dallas Express compiled a list of notable events in the area to help with your holiday planning, and the list was so big we had to split it into three parts! Here is part three:

Lewisville

The city is sponsoring its annual July 4th Parade and Picnic on Monday, July 4. The parade lineup starts at 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Simmons and Oak Trail and starts moving at 9:30 a.m., ending at the Double Oak Fire Department. The picnic will follow, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with music, food, drinks, and a raffle. 

Later in the day, head to the Castle Hills Freedom Festival, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The free event will feature bounce houses, water slides, face painters, balloon and caricature artists, a ballistic swing, and more. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand to keep attendees fueled up for all the activity. The highlight of the evening is the fireworks show that begins at dusk. 

McKinney 

On Monday the 4th, the City of McKinney and Craig Ranch will host the Red, White, and BOOM! event, offering a full day of activities. Start the day with a parade at 10 a.m. and the Yankee doodle block party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then head over later in the day to the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch for music, food, kids’ activities, a concert, and a fireworks display. 

All Red, White, and BOOM! events and parking are free and open to the public. For more information about the day’s events, call 972-547-7480 or visit the event website.

Plano

The city is hosting the All American 4th & Fireworks event on the north side of the Collin College parking lot, beginning at 6:00 p.m. There will be a vendor market, a kids’ zone, static parade floats sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Plano, and food and beverage concessions. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. with an accompanying musical program simulcast on 97.5 KLAK. Celebrants are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and coolers and leave pets and alcohol at home. 

Richardson

Richardson’s annual Family 4th Celebration will occur on Monday, July 4, at Breckinridge Park. This event will be free and open to the public, with concessions and kids’ activities opening at 6:00 p.m. The Richardson Community Band Patriotic Salute Concert begins at 8:15 p.m., and the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show will bring the event to a close with a bang.

Celebrants are encouraged to bring their picnic supplies and chairs to enjoy the night; all grills must be placed on a hard surface.

Rowlett

On Monday, July 4, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the City of Rowlett will host Fireworks on Main 2022. There will be live music by three bands, a kids’ area, a cornhole tournament, food and beverage vendors, and fireworks. The event takes place at Pecan Grove Park at 5300 Main St. 

Sachse 

The City of Sachse will host its annual Red, White, and Blue Blast on Sunday, July 3, beginning at 6 p.m. at Heritage Park at 4408 Hudson Dr. This old-fashioned family fun event is free and open to the general public. It will feature live entertainment, food trucks, vendors, games, a fire department splashdown, and fireworks. 

Attendees should bring lawn chairs, blankets, and bug spray! 

Southlake

The City of Southlake will host a Stars and Stripes event on July 3. It will take place in Southlake Town Square from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with fireworks starting around 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. 

The Southlake Community Band, U.S. Air Force Band, The Inspiration Band, Vinyl Stripes, and the SuperGlide band will perform live on the Rustin Pavilion and Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park stages. 

There will be a variety of food vendors serving snacks. The Southlake Chamber of Commerce will be selling beer and wine. No outside alcohol is permitted. 

Parents can bring their little ones to the Kids Corner for outdoor activities like crafts, balloon art, face painting, stilt walkers, and more.

Event parking is free; however, the city will offer free roundtrip shuttle services to and from the event.
