The long-awaited launch of The Echo Lounge and Music Hall has finally been put in motion. Located in the Design District and brought to Dallas by Mark Cuban, The Echo will officially open its door on December 14.

According to Live Nation, the 17-time Grammy-winning legend Sting will be the first-ever to perform on The Echo’s stage. The performance will be in a smaller, intimate setting but will still feature a fully electric band. The event will also feature special guest Joe Sumner, Sting’s songwriter and a musician himself.

The band released five albums and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. As a solo artist, Sting has surpassed over a billion streams and has had quite the musical career.

Sting’s date at The Echo Lounge seems to be a one-off performance. He doesn’t have to be back on the road until March 2022, where he will be continuing a world tour that started in 2019. The last time he performed in Texas was in 2017, at Texas Trust CU Theater in Grand Prairie.

The Echo Lounge didn’t have a smooth path to launch. The venue was first announced as “HiFi Dallas” back in January 2020, but COVID pushed back any plans of an opening. After changing the name to The Echo, the date was then pushed from October 2021 to a few dates in November, until finally settling on December 14.

The venue was developed in partnership with Mark Cuban and is next door to the Mavericks’ training facility. It has a capacity of 1,000 people and is designed to bring in local acts as well as touring artists.
