The Dallas Cowboys need help at the safety position. They are revamping the defensive room by bringing in a new defensive coordinator: Dan Quinn. Dan Quinn served formerly with the Atlanta Falcons as head coach. The Dallas Cowboys are changing their defensive scheme and bringing in bigger defensive backs.

There is one name that comes to mind when thinking about who would be the best to join the team and help accomplish this. That name is Malik Hooker, and he is currently visiting the Dallas Cowboys for his second visit. Malik Hooker is an intriguing player to bring to the Dallas Cowboys; he is a four-year veteran. Malik was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round with the 15th pick in 2017 out of Ohio State.

Malik Hooker was a good player roaming the backfield during his time suiting up for the Buckeyes. He played good coverage and made big plays. He’s a defensive back who you can rely on to make tackles and interceptions while the defense is on the field. Malik proved to be more noticeable in his sophomore year while at Columbus. He translated that in his rookie season in the league, making 3 interceptions. He might have had his share of being a key contributor to improving the Colts’ defense over the years, but he also had his share of injuries that have kept him from performing at his best on the field.

The Cowboys would be getting Malik Hooker at 25, which is still a good age to be getting a player at his caliber to add to their defense. He will be an upgrade to the Cowboys’ secondary going into the new scheme under Dan Quinn. If he can stay healthy and prove himself, he will be a great addition to the team. There are not many players on the market like Hooker at his age, nor do they have the potential that he has. If I had the choice, I wouldn’t pass on a player like this.
