The Fort Worth Police Department has charged a 24-year-old man with aggravated sexual assault after he allegedly raped a woman last week.

The alleged assault occurred in the 900 block of Foch Street on June 27. The victim told officers that she had never met the suspect prior to the incident. Her alleged assailant was identified as Caylon Washington.

The victim also told Fort Worth police officers that Washington had threatened her with a gun.

Detectives from FWPD’s Sex Crimes Division responded to the scene and began investigating. FWPD officers reviewed camera footage, conducted surveillance operations, and utilized every available resource to locate the suspect in this alleged violent offense to prevent future attacks.

On June 30, officers located 24-year-old Caylon Washington and took him into custody.

FWPD is still investigating this incident and will release more details as they become available. The department does not currently believe there are related offenses, but it is utilizing the CODIS system.

According to the FBI, CODIS is an acronym for “Combined DNA Index System.” It is a generic term used to describe the FBI’s program of support for criminal justice DNA databases and the software used to run them.

FWPD will also upload the details of this case into the FBI’s VICAP (Violent Crime Apprehension Program) as a precaution in case there are other related offenses anywhere in the U.S.

Washington is currently being held in the Tarrant County jail with bail set at $75,000, according to The Dallas Morning News. Investigators will file this case with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. It is not clear whether he has an attorney.
