Donald Trump’s former senior campaign advisor and national campaign spokesperson Katrina Pierson has signed on as a consultant for the Don Huffines gubernatorial campaign.

Pierson first endorsed Huffines in his race for governor of Texas back in August. Later, in a December 14 email, she wrote, “I am proud to support my former state senator in his run for Texas governor. Texas should never be in the shadows of Florida or any other states when our fundamental liberties and livelihoods are at risk… Don Huffines will put Texas first, and that has been long overdue.”

According to The Dallas Morning News, the Huffines campaign has officially signed Pierson on to provide consulting services.

Pierson explained that Huffines “was a huge supporter of President Trump and did more than most Texans to fight for his re-election. And I know because I was there on the front lines with him.”

Pierson, who is from Forney, Texas, was highly involved in the Texas Tea Party movement, according to The Dallas Morning News. In 2014, she ran for Congress, and in 2012, she worked on the election campaign for Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Her name has been in the news recently due to her alleged involvement in the January 6 attack on the Capitol. In September, the House Select Committee subpoenaed Pierson, alleging that she organized a rally and communicated with Trump about it.

Rep. Bennie Thompson stated in a letter to Pierson, “According to documents provided to the Select Committee, press reports, and statements by Women for America First (“WFAF”), you assisted WFAF in organizing the rally held on the Ellipse in Washington DC on January 6, 2021, in support of then-President Trump and his allegations of election fraud.”

Pierson stated, “I look forward to the committee report along with the exoneration of thousands of Americans, including several Texans, who participated in a legitimate and constitutionally protected rally that had nothing to do with the events that took place at the United States Capitol.”
