Mark is a general assignment reporter at The Dallas Express, where he also covers Texas Rangers baseball and Dallas Stars hockey.
Following 20 years as a reporter, editor, managing editor, and then publisher, Mark graduated from the University of Montana School of Journalism with a BA (print emphasis) in 2006. In 2004, while attending the U of M, he interned at a start-up community newspaper in a small, rural valley outside Missoula, eventually working his way onto the paper’s sports desk.
Over the next 20 years, Mark, and the newspapers he worked for, won dozens of awards from the Montana Newspaper Association, including many first-place awards in solo reporting, photography, sports opinion, and newspaper design.
His community newspaper work in the Treasure State ended in 2019 when he left his position as publisher of a weekly Eastern Montana newspaper which will soon celebrate 100 years.
Aside from journalism, Mark has also served on many boards and committees, including his last spot as president of the Phillips Transit Authority BoD from 2018-19.
