A Richardson man is facing intoxication manslaughter charges after hitting and killing a bicyclist early Sunday morning, the Richardson Police Department announced.
Richardson police officers responded to a crash in the 1100 block of South Plano Road around 2:30 a.m. and located a crashed bicycle and the rider lying in the left lane.
A black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was also stopped at the scene.
Investigators allege the driver of the pickup and the cyclist were both traveling southbound on South Plano Road when the driver struck the cyclist.
Medical personnel pronounced the cyclist, 43-year-old Courtney Terrill, dead at the scene. Officers identified the driver of the pickup as 28-year-old Jesus Esquivel.
Esquivel was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
After his arrest, Esquivel was transferred to the Dallas County Jail, Richardson PD told The Dallas Express.
As of Tuesday morning, Esquivel was being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
The incident is still being investigated by the Special Crash Investigations (SCI) team. Richardson PD asks anyone who may have witnessed the crash or seen the bicyclist before the collision to call 972-744-4800.
