Two schools in the Garland Independent School District were closed on Friday, January 21 due to freezing temperatures and HVAC heating system issues, reports CBS News.

Both Keely and Luna Elementary Schools were closed to repair a mechanical failure with the HVAC systems.

The Garland Independent School District posted a notice on Twitter on Thursday announcing the closure. Stressing the importance of student safety, the district apologized for any inconvenience the closure might cause.

The district said in the Twitter post that classes will resume on Monday.
