Houston specialist, entrepreneur, author, and philanthropist Dr. Suhyun An tackles the student loan debt crisis head-on by launching his scholarship.

The 2021 applications to the Dr. Suhyun An Scholarship opening have been announced by the committee, and all students currently attending or that have been accepted to an accredited College or University that meet the eligibility requirements are invited to apply. They propose an opportunity for students in pursuit of a higher education degree in the medical discipline field who are in need of financial assistance to apply to be one of the two scholarship recipients that will be awarded $2,000.

A 2021 study by the National Center for Education Statistics found that 8 out of 10 medical school graduates find it necessary to borrow money to earn their degree, which will typically have an average cost of close to $250,000. The study also revealed that student debt incurred by medical students has doubled since the early 2000s.

Dr. Suhyun An mentions: “Students currently in medical school are finding it difficult to afford, and the next generation will most likely find it even harder. We need to do something to show our support for these men and women who are dedicating their lives to caring for others and the future development of healthcare.”

Recognized for being innovative and revolutionary in her field, those who know her describe Dr. An as one of the most compassionate physicians they have met. This scholarship was created to assist students who have made a decision to dedicate their lives to caring for mankind. It will be awarded to two students annually that were able to show commitment to academic excellence with a minimum weighted GPA of 3.0 and pursuing a career in the medical field.
