Price: Fort Worth celebrations for National EMS Week 'an honor'

May 16-22 marked the 46th National EMS week.

Originally enacted by President Gerald Ford in 1974, it is a way to pay tribute and celebrate EMS workers for the services they provide their communities.

In Fort Worth, Texas, Mayor Betsy Price recognized the city’s own celebrations for EMS workers as “an honor.”

“It was an honor to recognize #EMSWeek2021 and the selfless work that is done by@FortWorthFire and @MedStarEMSInfo, especially this past year to serve the City of Fort Worth,” she said in a tweet

The Fort Worth Fire Department has since posted its own tweet thanking Price and the city for supporting National EMS Week and supporting emergency services professionals.

“In recognition of #EMSWEEK2021, the @CityofFortWorth recognized members of #YourFWFD and @MedStarEMSInfo for their dedication to the residents of #FortWorth. We thank @MayorBetsyPrice and CFW City Council for recognizing this important week and supporting all of our EMS professionals,” the department tweeted.

The 2021 theme for EMS Week was This is EMS: Caring for Communities, according to the EMS Week website
