An overnight crash involving several vehicles in Dallas left one person dead and three others injured, including a Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, November 28, as two deputies assisted a stalled car.

According to FOX 4 News, one of the deputies was using his vehicle to push the stalled car on northbound I-35, near Oak Lawn Avenue, off the highway while the other deputy was blocking traffic.

Deputies said a car crashed into the back of the deputy’s vehicle that was blocking traffic. The crash caused a chain reaction involving eight vehicles.

Two occupants from the car that crashed into the back of the deputy’s vehicle were ejected and sustained critical injuries.

The two men who were were taken to Parkland Hospital. A third occupant who was identified as a 17-year-old was not ejected but pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the deputies was treated for leg and neck injuries, and authorities have confirmed that charges might be filed after determining who the driver was.
