Downtown Dallas Apartment Fatal Shooting

According to authorities, a man was found dead from a gunshot wound in a downtown Dallas apartment on Thursday.

Around 10 p.m. on May 5, police responded to a welfare check at the 500 block of South Ervay Street and discovered 25-year-old Du’Vonta Lampkin fatally shot in an apartment, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Lampkin’s friends had been unable to make contact with him and went to check on him when he did not answer phone calls.

Lampkin had been staying at an Airbnb while he moved into a new apartment, according to police, and was expected to leave the Airbnb on Friday.

The victim’s backpack, phone, and wallet were all reported missing. An investigation is ongoing.
