As the number of Texans contracting COVID-19 continues to climb, the Dallas Independent School District is taking a proactive step to get its employees vaccinated.

With health and safety in mind, Dallas ISD offers a one-time incentive of $500 to fully vaccinated employees against COVID-19.

According to school officials, “Participation in the vaccine incentive is entirely voluntary and based on the employees’ personal preferences.”

Knowing who is vaccinated will aid the district in contact tracing and the quarantine process, which varies depending on a person’s vaccination status.

To receive the $500 incentive, Dallas ISD employees must complete the vaccination incentive form and submit proof of vaccination by Nov. 15. After submission, employees will see the $500 in their paycheck in 45 days.

School administration decided to offer the incentive after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Dallas County Health officials raised the COVID-19 alert to level red. The fast rise of recent hospitalizations spurred school officials to take steps to keep students, faculty, and staff as safe as possible.

On Aug. 10, the district began requiring everyone on Dallas ISD property to wear a mask or face covering.

The mask requirement is temporary but remains in effect. School administration continues to monitor COVID cases in the district and contact the Dallas County Health and Human Services, which provides additional guidance.
