The Dallas Cowboys will get a grudge match and an opportunity at redemption in 2022. The complete NFL schedule was released on May 12, and for the second year in a row, the Cowboys will face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to open the season. It will be one of five Prime Time games for the Dallas Cowboys and one of two Prime Time games in the first three weeks of the 2022 NFL season.

The game will be a rematch of the close loss the Cowboys experienced on opening night in 2021, which opened the season with a furious flurry of scoring late in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, Bucs kicker Ryan Succop punched through the game-winning field goal as time expired.

A key difference that may play a factor in the game’s outcome is the location. This time, the Cowboys will welcome Tom Brady to the Star at Frisco, where the home crowd may make the difference.

For the first time in 21 years, the Cowboys will open the season with back-to-back home games. After dueling with new head coach Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers, Mike McCarthy and company will welcome the Cincinnati Bengals, whose last game was Super Bowl LVI, in which the team lost by three points after a late fourth-quarter rally that gave the Los Angeles Rams the win.

The Cowboys will also face the Rams in 2022 in a Week 5 match-up in Southern California. The last time the Cowboys faced the Rams was a 20-17 loss in 2020. The Rams’ victory was also at home, adding more drama as the Cowboys strive for redemption against the current champions.

Before facing off against the Rams, the Cowboys will also play the first two-division games of the season. The first game will come in Prime Time in Week 3 against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. The game will be at MetLife stadium.

The Giants will also come to The Star to face the Cowboys in Week 12 on Thursday Night Football. It will be the second Prime Time game of the season featuring the two teams.

The following week, Dallas will return to Frisco to take on the newly-renamed and revamped Washington Commanders. The Cowboys trounced Washington, which has gone by the Washington Football Team since changing its name from the Redskins, a term many found to be derogatory.

In Week 6, the Cowboys will be featured for the second time of the season on Prime Time. This time, they will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly. Dallas will also host the Eagles in Texas on Christmas Eve in the middle slot of the day’s games. The Cowboys defeated Philadelphia in both contests last season as part of the division sweep.

Week 13 will be the second consecutive Prime Time appearance for “America’s Team” when they travel to face the Indianapolis Colts, one of only four AFC match-ups this season. The Cowboys lost four of their five losses to AFC teams last season.

The Dallas Cowboys’ season will end on the road for the first time in 11 years. Dallas will travel to face the Tennessee Titans in the second to last game of the season. It will also be the last game the team will play on Prime Time in the regular season. The final game of the season will be at Washington.

The 2022 NFL season will kick off on September 11, 2022. Rookie minicamps have opened for many teams, including the Cowboys, who welcomed forty-three young players to the Star on April 12 as the team seeks to fill holes and get to a fifty-three-man roster before the start of the season.
