Nine-year-old Ezra Blout, the youngest victim injured during the Astroworld Music Festival in Houston, has been placed in a medically induced coma.

According to CBS 11 News, Ezra traveled from Dallas to the concert with his father, Treston Blount, on Friday. The 9-year-old’s relative said he and his father love Travis Scott.

The family said the event was supposed to be an avenue for the father and son to bond, but now Ezra is fighting for his life at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Bernon Blount, Ezra’s grandfather, told CNN that Treston carried Ezra on his shoulder when the pair went to the concert. Bernon said Treston could not breathe because of all the pressure applied to his body. Bernon added that his son passed out, and Ezra fell off his shoulder and into the crowd.

According to CBS 11 News, the 9-year-old was trampled, and relatives said he sustained damages to his organs. He also had a swelling on his brain and went into cardiac arrest at some point.

CBS 11 NEWS also reported that Terecia Blount, Ezra’s grandmother, said she had no words for the trampling and pushing that caused all the injuries her grandson suffered.

“I don’t know how they could have allowed those things to happen to him or anyone else’s child,” Terecia said.

Terecia added that the family is asking for prayers for Ezra, his parents, and the entire family at this point.

Ezra’s family said that doctors had to place the 9-year-old in a medically induced coma in an attempt to overcome the trauma to his brain.

Ben Crump, the family’s attorney, issued a statement accusing the concert organizers of being reckless.

So far, eight people have died from the chaos that occurred during the concert. According to CBS 11 News, multiple lawsuits have been filed against the organizers and against Travis Scott and Drake, who were performing when the mayhem occurred.
