This year the city of Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating 35 years of Christmas in the Park. The family-friendly event will feature holiday décor, community musical and dance performances, activities, a lighted parade, and a firework grand finale.

“This is the longest-running special event in the history of Mesquite. It has become a tradition for a generation of families in our community. It is designed to be a low-cost holiday event for the community,” said Elizabeth Harrell, Director of Parks and Recreation.

Bring the kids out for a full day of fun, starting with storytime with Mrs. Clause. People and pets can get pictures with Santa, roast marshmallows on the yule log, and enjoy Rudolph’s Reindeer Games.

For those who still haven’t written their letter to Santa, pencils and paper will be available with a special mailbox that delivers each letter directly to the North Pole.

Both evenings of Christmas in the Park end with the “Here Comes Christmas” lighted parade and a fireworks finale at 7 p.m. This event runs on Saturday, December 4, and Sunday, December 5, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kids, big and small, wanting to enjoy carnival rides, inflatables, and other games can get an activity wristband for $10 each. Christmas in the Park is located at 601 Gross Road at Westlake Park. Parking and admission are free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

The holiday season is upon us with so many activities to enjoy. Do not miss Mesquite’s Christmas in the Park. For more information about Christmas in the Park, performing, or being a vendor, visit their website here or call 972-216-6260.
