American Heart Association Recognizes Ten Texas Health Hospitals

Ten Texas Health facilities received numerous awards recently from the American Heart Association. According to a press release from Texas Health, these awards recognize facilities for their commitment to treatment guidelines and quality improvement, specifically concerning cardiovascular care, stroke, and diabetes. 

“When it comes to cardiovascular disease and stroke, Texas Health is committed to partnering with North Texans for a lifetime of care. We’re ready and willing to address the most complex cases by offering advanced technologies and compassionate care,” Kirk King, Texas Health’s executive vice president and Hospital Channel Chief Operating Officer. “I’m pleased our facilities have been recognized for their excellence by the American Heart Association.”


The American Heart Association recognized hospitals with their “Mission: Lifeline” awards. The Mission: Lifeline program focuses on heart attack care. There are two sub-categories for the awards, STEMI ( ST-elevation myocardial infarction) and NSTEMI (non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction). 

The Mission: Lifeline (STEMI) award recipients are:

  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford — Gold Plus Receiving award level
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth — Silver Plus Receiving award level
  • Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington(joint venture) — Gold Plus Receiving award level
  • Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South(joint venture) — Gold Plus Receiving award level
  • Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas — Gold Plus Receiving award level
  • Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton — Gold Plus Receiving award level
  • Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano — Gold Plus Receiving award level

The Mission: Lifeline (NSTEMI) award recipients are:

  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance — Bronze award level
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth— Gold award level
  • Texas Health Heart & Vascular Arlington — Gold award level
  • Texas Health HEB — Gold award level
  • Texas Health Dallas — Gold award level
  • Texas Health Plano — Gold award level
  • Texas Health Southwest — Gold award level

The American Heart Association also recognized hospitals through their “Get With The Guidelines” program. Get With The Guidelines recognizes hospitals that follow nationally recognized guidelines for stroke and heart failure treatment patients. Varying levels are determined by consistent and consecutive times in providing this type of care. The Get With The Guideline Recipients are:

  • Texas Health Arlington Memorial — Gold Plus and Target Stroke Elite Honor Roll award levels
  • Texas Health Dallas — Gold Plus and Target Stroke Elite Honor Roll award levels
  • Texas Health Denton — Gold Plus and Target Stroke Honor Roll award levels
  • Texas Health Fort Worth — Gold Plus, Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll, and Target Stroke Advanced Therapy Honor Roll award levels
  • Texas Health Heart & Vascular Arlington — Gold Plus and Target Heart Failure Honor Roll award levels
  • Texas Health H-E-B — Gold Plus and Target Stroke Elite Honor Roll award levels
  • Texas Health Plano — Gold Plus and Target Stroke Elite Honor Roll award levels

Texas Health Dallas, Texas Health Denton, and Texas Health H-E-B were additionally awarded the American Health Association’s Type-2 Diabetes Honor Roll award. This award focuses on facilities that provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when treating patients living with Type 2 diabetes who are hospitalized for stroke.
