Once again, Donald Trump was named TIME’s Person of the Year, recognizing his political resurgence and role in reshaping global politics.

Perhaps unintentionally, TIME Magazine re-highlighted the positives of Trump’s comeback with this recent award announcement, which may thwart the magazine’s underlying criticisms of the man.

“Trump’s rebirth is unparalleled in American history,” the magazine claimed before immediately saying that his first term ended in a “disgrace.”

This marks Trump’s second time receiving TIME’s Person of the Year title, the first being in 2016 when he was initially elected President.

Trump’s win in the 2024 election made history in several ways, attracting the magazine’s attention. For one, he became the second U.S. president to win non-consecutive terms in American history after Grover Cleveland.

Trump also took the country by surprise with a decisive win in the Electoral College, capturing the majority of big battleground states.

In addition, Trump survived multiple assassination attempts.

As most know, earlier this year, on July 13, Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. During the President-elect’s campaign speech, a shooter opened fire, wounding Trump and killing one of his supporters, as previously detailed by The Dallas Express.

Weeks later, a second assassination attempt against Trump was thwarted by law enforcement in Florida, where authorities intercepted a man armed with an AK-47 near the Mar-A-Lago golf course.

The President-elect’s recent victory has left the American Democratic Party reeling, with Republicans set to control the White House and both chambers of Congress in 2025. This is perhaps another reason why Trump has been renamed the Person of the Year by TIME.

Alongside Trump, the 2024 Person of the Year finalists included Kamala Harris, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, podcasting giant Joe Rogan, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
