Over Memorial Day weekend, more than 4,000 unlawful migrants attempted to enter the United States from Mexico through the Rio Grande Valley, according to Fox News.

Former U.S. Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott expressed frustration with the Biden administration, condemning the president for not doing enough to address what he calls a “growing threat” to the country’s safety.

“There’s no effort to actually secure the border and to figure out who and what’s coming in when you create a chaotic situation like this, and they have created this through their policies,” Scott said.

The Biden administration issued a release last year outlining several steps it has taken to help secure the border.

“The Biden-Harris administration is working to rebuild our immigration system after four years of chaos and mismanagement,” the report stated.

United States Customs and Border Protection has encountered almost 1.3 million unlawful migrants since the start of 2022, according to CBP data.

Last week, a federal judge blocked the Biden administration from ending Title 42. The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that it intends to appeal the ruling, however, the DOJ has not officially filed the appeal at this time.

The Department of Homeland Security forecasted in March that there could be as many as 18,000 unlawful border crossings per day if Title 42 were to expire.

The current chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, Raul Ortiz, praised his officers on May 27, saying they arrested 10 sex offenders, a slew of deadly drugs, and other wanted individuals over a three-day period.

“Extremely Proud,” Ortiz tweeted.

In his tweet, Ortiz listed off a laundry list of accolades for his officers.

In addition to their arrests and seizures, border patrol agents also saved 22 unlawful migrants from the Rio Grande.
