Dallas police arrested an 18-year-old on Sunday in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old boy in northeast Dallas.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Police officers responded to the Crestridge Apartments in the 6400 block of Ridgecrest Road. When they arrived, they found the 16-year-old on the floor with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses say Alexadre Orozco Garcia was allegedly trying to unload a handgun when it discharged and struck the boy on the chest.

Police did not release the name of the victim or comment on the relationship between the two teenagers.

Garcia is charged with manslaughter, police said. His bail had not been set. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
