The Garland Police Department, along with Jerry Reynolds, the president of Car Pro Radio Network and owner of the radio station KPIR, are offering a combined $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the 14-year-old wanted in connection to a fatal December shooting at a gas station near downtown Garland.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Garland police have identified 14-year-old Abel Elias Acosta as the primary suspect, accused of shooting four teenagers, killing three and leaving the other in critical condition.

The incident occurred on December 26, inside a Texaco station located in the 700 block of West Walnut Street. After the shooting, the 14-year-old suspect allegedly fled from the scene in a getaway vehicle being driven by his father, Richard Acosta Jr., who has since turned himself in to Garland police.

According to booking records, the suspect’s father is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a bond of $3 million.

Efforts made by Garland police to arrest the suspected shooter have so far yielded no results.

Lt. Pedro Barineau of the Garland Police Department revealed detectives are still following up on leads and tips. Barineau said leads indicate that Abel might be in Mexico, North Texas, or West Texas, but added that authorities could not say for sure.

“He’s wanted for killing three teenagers and wounding a fourth, and we need to find him and get him off the street,” Barineau said.

According to The Dallas Morning News, the U.S. Marshals, who coordinate international and foreign arrests, have joined the investigation and search for the 14-year-old.

Anyone with information that could lead to Abel’s arrest is encouraged to call Homicide Investigator Lucas Shupe at 972-485-4869. Tipsters may also submit their tips to Crime Stoppers at 972-272-8477 or garlandcrimestoppers.org.
